IDOINE ÉDITION

ABOUT
Sometimes a crow or a raven, in order to crack open a nut, will stop at a red light, put it on the road and, once the light turns green, expect cars to drive over the nut, leaving its content exposed. The context in which this bird lives, influences its ways of doing things, so to speak, opens possibilities and creates challenges.
Idoine is the will to share a curiosity and an appetite for modes of operation, conditions for its guests’ surfacing of tools and internal logic.
Idoine is led by Jérémy Glâtre, Coralie Guillaubez, Eléonore Pano-Zavaroni and Pascale Riou, in collaboration with guests and occasional fellow travelers.

IDOINE & JULIE HASCOËT
Magazine – 2024 – 10 €

Whether in Carrara’s vast marble quarries, underground in the Loir-et-Cher region of France, in tents at free parties in Brittany, out in the fresh air of Norwegian fjords, at the doors of prisons, in her truck on the road or parked up on the seafront, Julie Hascoët spans and cuts across the worlds she inhabits. Encounters are at the heart of her artistic practices.
From unstable, liminal and marginalized spaces, she develops sensitive cartographies, supporting and accompanying forms of resistance. These practices, carried out by and for others, invite us all to create.

IDOINE & JEANNE LEBRUN
Magazine – 2023 – 10 €

JEANNE LEBRUN – NOZ
Essay – 2023 – 10 €

Jeanne Lebrun writes like she speaks, and speaks like she thinks. Her words are fast, powerful, critical and lively. Driven by curiosity and rage, she thinks about the world as she inhabits it. She’s always working, and has developed a practice where life and art are truly enmeshed. Family, friends and encounters enable her to think and invent practices both on her own and with others. A few years at art school confirmed for Jeanne what she wasn't up for her. With neither naivety nor cynicism, she has carved out a place between indulgence and intransigence, founded on an ethic often shaped by adversity and continually reaffirmed.
In addition to "Idoine & Jeanne Lebrun", the essay "Noz" is written in a style that is spontaneous and direct, where she connects her personal experiences to major contemporary issues – the place of money and its representations, and the instrumentalisation of emotions in our current hegemonic economic and political system. This text is about how to cheat and self-organise, calling for joyful and collective resistance, for piracy and finding the cracks where alternatives and other ways of living are possible.

CARBONE 20
Biennial of artist-run spaces and artist-run initiatives, Saint-Etienne (France)
Book – 2023 – 30 €

The prospective catalogue Carbone 20 highlights artistic practices that call upon the collective and give rise to other ways of doing things. It explores visible and invisible networks, focusing on multiple initiatives, from Saint-Étienne to its region and even internationally.
This book brings together interviews, testimonies, historical perspectives and analyses of experiences. It is interspersed with images related to these proposals and scans of editorial projects, as many entries into self-organised practices.
It is a celebration of attempts and strategies with different forms and commitments, in this present where there are no alternatives, which constantly leads us to question positions, ways of circulating, doing, acting and being together, notably through the field of contemporary art.

IDOINE & JULIA BURTIN ZORTEA
Magazine – 2021 – 10 €

Julia Burtin Zortea speaks from the present, propelled by her desires and drawn to new encounters. It’s through the prism of power relations that she makes sense of reality.
Over the last decade, she has been producing magazines and periodicals, developing a form of writing that is both welcoming and inquisitive. Together with others, Julia weaves her way along fault-lines amidst the uncertainty and permanent movement of existence. She moves and acts in the world, translating her experiences into practices and modes of language that sometimes elude her, but where she feels a pull or a resistance. Always with this recurrent question: how to live well in a precarious world?

IDOINE & CAMILLE LAURELLI
Magazine – 2020 – 5 €

Camille Laurelli never stops. He moves in circles, twists and turns. Starting a discussion with him is like falling into a whirlpool from which, logically, you must emerge, enriched with a thousand new facts, but without knowing when or how you will find the way out.
His way of thinking is playful and convoluted, his practice is linked to artists and activists and for the last two years he has collaborated with the world of video games with LVLup! – a video game museum, games room, art work, workshop, centre for artists’ residencies and exhibition space based in Tallinn, Estonia.

IDOINE & PIERRE COURTIN
T-shirt – 2020 – 30 €

Pierre Courtin is alert, sharp, laughs and works from the heart. Sensitive to the intensity of trying, he is on the lookout for the aesthetic hubs of the present time. He occupies a unique position; from within the field of contemporary art, he implements a sharing and supportive economy, constantly working towards inventing formats for new artistic encounters. After founding and directing 10m2, Duplex10m2 and Duplex100m2, experimental spaces in Sarajevo (2004-2018), he continues to promote and diffuse the Balkan art scene today. Moving between Italy and France, Courtin is more attentive than ever to the meaning of the notions of economy and autonomy.
After publishing a first Idoine & Pierre Courtin in 2016, we are delighted to publish Idoine & Pierre Courtin, You Should Find a Real Job: a t-shirt edition designed with the artist – who has been a friend and a rock for the Idoine team for many years.

Fabrice Croux is alert, talkative and gourmand. He makes heaps of objects and piles of words.
Living at the heart of both the Basque and the Grenoble landscapes, he ingests objects, techniques and other edible dishes. He immerses himself in time, sprinkled with magic and strangeness. With artifice as his looking glass, his feet are planted in the sand, his hands are in the earth. His practice leads him from gesture to thought, basing itself in economy in its literal sense – home organisation –, arrangement and love.

& PATRICK LOWRY
Magazine – 2019 – 5 €

Jane Lowry and Patrick Lowry live in an oasis between land and sea, inhabited by birds and regularly by artists in the heart of Cornwall, England. For the past ten years, the couple has been managing the artist-led, non-profit space Back Lane West, a place of residency, projects and meeting in the town of Redruth. This base camp welcomes, weaves and maintains a network from a local to international scale, nurturing humans, practices and encounters.
With a shift in tempo, Jane and Patrick Lowry have recently decided to step back a little from this project and make more room for other things in life.

A fixed-term experiment, the space generates ways of think- ing and doing that will be handed on in different ways.

IDOINE & STEPHEN LOYE
Magazine – 2018 – 5 €

A magnetic field seems to hover around Stephen Loye; he exudes a nebulous abundance of activities and ideas. Things quickly take on proportions, intense and direct. Stephen Loye proceeds by putting things together. A montage of images, events, words.
His productions are hypersensitive to the present, to what is at stake, to how humans and the world are organised and what makes them tick. Power dynamics. War. Things are constantly in movement and only settle in order to lead us elsewhere, like various stages in the constant redefinition of the order of things. Born on 4th June 1989, the day of the Tienanmen massacre, he lives mostly in Digne-les-Bains, in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, France.

BY FRIEND REQUEST
Magazine – 2017 – 5 €

Stéphane Déplan, a Grenoble citizen exiled in Brussels for several years now, regroups his activities under the name of Life as Art as Attitude.
He practices a way of making art, through protocol and accumulation. His everyday actions and projects are thought and activated over a long period of time – perhaps over a lifespan – marking a personal routine. The collection process, object identification, research, discovery, composition, separation and organization form a set of gestures with no other purpose but to maintain the artistic process.

GIROUD-DELORME
Magazine – 2017 – 5 €

Interview realized on november 16th, 2014 in Paris.
Through a process of juxtaposition, collage and intended gaps, Antonin Giroud Delorme creates “between” objects, between use and representation. He questions rules and conventions, the inherent memory of objects, the false memory of select fantasies that has been forged over time. Attentive to cracks and dents that leave space and time, that allow to rethink gestures and rhythms, he shares labile forms that are there to be seized.

IDOINE & SISSY HANKSHAW
Magazine – 2016 – 5 €

Interview realized between 2016 and 1976.
Originally from South Richmond, Virginia, Sissy Hankshaw was born in the Eisenhower Years and now lives in the Dakotas.
Sissy has remarkably large thumbs - symbol of emancipation and non-conformity. Thanks to them, she gained freedom and was queen of hitchhiking, an art understood not as a means but as an essential act. She has built a hitchiking vision of the world, made of rhythms, nuances, and spatial tensions: a poetic and magical occupation of space and time.
To Courbet’s statement “I am my own government,” Sissy would probably replace it with “Be your own celebration!”

IDOINE & SUPERMARKET
Magazine – 2016 – 5 €

Interview realized on april 22th, 2016 in Stockholm.
Born from the desire to do together, from the need to renew the format of the art fair and affirm art as a meeting place, Minimarket, established in 2006, is a collective exhibition, gathering artist-run spaces and acting ironically off the official contemporary art fair.
Initially displaying ten booths of one square metre, Minimarket became the year after Supermarket, the independent contemporary art fair in Stockholm. Supermarket is an initiative of a group of Swedish artists. Andreas Ribbung and Pontus Raud has been part of it from the beginning, later joined by Meggi Sandell.

Pierre Courtin likes to think, act and work with his hands. With a sense of humor, he multitasks and embodies different jobs; gallerist, collector, artist, consultant, curator. Each one of these activities is embodied, questioned and has a powerful artistic and political engagement. Pierre Courtin offers experimental formats in a sharing economy.
Since 2004, he’s headquartered in Sarajevo where he opened a gallery or rather “a singular platform for artistic encounters.”

Richard Monnier leads expeditions right into the heart of multi-dimensional matter.
